Digging Up Blessings in the Desert

“Digging Up Blessings In The Desert”

“There the Israelites sand this song, Spring up O well…”

(Num. 21:17-18)

In our culture of high-speed internet and instant gratification, we complain when things don’t come to us quickly enough or when it just takes too much effort to get what we want. Sometimes we transfer that attitude over to the things of the Spirit. When God doesn’t answer quickly enough, or when it takes too much effort, we often conclude (wrongly) that it must not be God’s will to have what we’re asking for.

What about when you’re in a desert? A desert is a place where there is no growth, no water, no food, the ground is hard and there are no prospects for improvement as far as the eye can see. How can you dig for blessings in this kind of environment? There was one answer for the Israelites, and there’s only one answer for us. BY FAITH!

Let’s get the “picture” here. The Israelites were traveling through a desert in obedience to God’s direction. They desperately needed water. They had no prospects. All they had was a “location” where water was provided in the past by Moses. All they had was a “promise”. What good is a promise in the desert where there are no prospects? The answer is “It’s no good.” That is, until it’s mixed with FAITH!

We need to learn how to dig our blessings out of the desert of circumstances by faith. In verse 17 it says that we should SING to the well which was dug up in the past by Princes and Leaders with their scepters and staffs! Here is the secret of receiving all your blessings in the worst of circumstances. We need to PRAISE the Lord for the answer before we receive it. We need to do so BY FAITH in the promises of God. This is represented by our STAFF. Remember when Moses obeyed God while leading the Israelites through the wilderness? He raised his staff and the waters parted; the rock broke out like a river; the plagues were launched in judgment against God’s enemies. Moses did this by FAITH (see Hebrews 11).

They also used their SCEPTERS. This represents their AUTHORITY as heirs and princes of the people. Now, let me remind you; if you and I are children of THE KING, that makes us …you guessed it, PRINCES AND PRINCESSES! That simply means that we have authority! It’s not in ourselves or our own name, BUT IN THE NAME OF THE KING TO WHOM WE BELONG! Whenever we’re in a desert place, we need to know the PROMISES of God. We need to receive their fulfillment BY FAITH. Finally we need to stimulate our faith and awaken our spirits THROUGH PRAISE! Yes, praise releases the blessings of God to us because praise releases our FAITH! You cannot complain and praise at the same time. You cannot worry and be anxious and praise at the same time. The key to abundant provision in the desert is to learn to sing PRAISES to God. Remember Paul and Silas in the Philippian jail? They we bound by their circumstances against their wills. How did the chains fall off and the prison doors open? THEY PRAYED AND SANG PRAISES to the Lord in their ‘desert’ and the WELL SPRANG UP!!

Today, especially if you’re in a desert, determine to DIG YOUR WELL BY FAITH. Get hold of the promise of God for you. Raise your voice of Divine authority in the Name of Jesus and SING, SING, SING! The well will surely open for you as it did by these Israelites. That’s the way it has always been. That’s the way it will always be!

May the Lord continually bless you in your PRAISE.

Calling Down the Kingdom

 “Calling Down the Kingdom”

“…but constant prayer was offered to God by the church for him.”(Acts 12:5b)

Prayer is the MOST POWERFUL weapon available to the church. Yet, it is also the MOST MISUNDERSTOOD and the MOST NEGLECTED means available to us to CHANGE the course of events in this world and the world to come.

I would like you all to think of a situation in your life that you’re now struggling with. This may be a personal struggle or it may involve a loved one. Is it big enough to imagine what would happen if God Himself would come down and just deal with it for you? The early church had such a problem. James had been arrested and killed. Now, because it was politically popular, Peter was arrested and imprisoned. Satan was trying to attack the leaders of the church in an effort to “scatter the sheep” once the Shepherds were out of the way! James was the head of the Jerusalem council after Peter. This was the enemy’s strategy then, and now.

While a number of questions may arise in our minds regarding this event in the early church, one thing is certain. Peter was released MIRACULOUSLY from prison for one reason; constant prayer was offered to God on his behalf! Think about what happened. The scriptures don’t tell us that the church prayed a series of scripted, “release-from-prison” prayers published by a specialist in that area.We are not told how long they prayed, if they took breaks for sleeping, eating or anything else. We are simply told that they prayed constantly for Peter. Here’s a little insight I’d like to share with you. If the methodology, words, sequence of events of the prayer meeting were so important for us to know, GOD WOULD HAVE HAD LUKE WRITE THOSE DETAILS INTO THE ACCOUNT! But, he didn’t. What he did include was that the prayer was CONSTANT. Are you starting to catch on here?

Powerful things can happen when the church prays! The issue is not that we use the wrong words or formulae. THE ISSUE IS THAT WE STOP PRAYING ALL TO SOON!!! Let’s face it; sometimes it TAKES A CRISIS to get us to pray more than a few minutes, several times a day. An EMERGENCY can cause us to skip a meal, lose sleep and stay up long into the night asking God to intervene. Isn’t it amazing how a crisis can help us energize, reprioritize and engage the Spirit world with an ATTITUDE that won’t accept “No” for an answer? THAT is what is so powerful about constant prayer!

Can you imagine what would be possible if we prayed like that REGULARLY, without the “help” of a crisis? Political, social, economic decisions would be overturned, averted, and overridden! God would rule! HIS AUTHORITY would PREVAIL! This is the effect of constant prayer. If we prayed because we UNDERSTOOD, and BELIEVED in the POWER of prayer so that we ENGAGED in it CONSISTENTLY, we’d call down the Kingdom of Heaven on the earth! God’s will would replace man’s will. EVERYTHING would change to conform to the WILL of God!

You know, we’re not waiting for God. God is waiting for us! He’s waiting TO RESPOND…to CONSTANT prayer! Let’s call down the Kingdom TODAY. Let’s learn how much power is available to us and do what the early church did. LET US PRAY!

May the Lord bless you continually,

Pastor Damian

Living by God’s Power

Living by God’s Power

“For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.”

1 Cor. 4:20

We have become accustomed to hearing a lot of sermons, a lot of teaching, a lot of preaching on the Kingdom of God and the Good News of the Kingdom. We heard on Sunday that the Good News of the Kingdom is that the time of God’s favor had come – the time of Jubilee! What does this really mean? We found out it means it is a time where every slave is released, where every inheritance is restored; where every sickness and malady is eradicated; where relationships are reconciled. It is a time of joy! A time of provision and abundance!A time of celebration!

Jesus prayed to the Father as He was teaching His disciples to pray:“…Let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done on EARTH as it is in HEAVEN” (emphasis added). This will not happen just by our speaking some formulation of words or doing a lot of talking about it – for the Kingdom is not a matter of talk but of living by God’s power. How do we live by God’s power? We need to have a living relationship with Him so that He can freely live through us to accomplish His will within our sphere of influence on the earth! This may sound difficult or mysterious but it is not.It just means we have to surrender control. It means we have to be constant communication with our Lord, our Bridegroom, our Friend. It means that we have to live a Spirit-filled life. It means we have to sacrifice some things so that we can remain sensitive to Him, so that we can hear His voice and sense His direction. It means we are going to have to forsake some behaviors we have been clinging to, some habits that we have allowed to rule, and turn from the idols we have been worshipping and allow Him to purify us so that He can rule in us and through us.

What will this produce? The Kingdom coming and God’s will being done in every situation we encounter in our sphere of influence on earth; God’s will being done in problems that come to our attention; the issues that plague our families;to those living on our blocks, to those we meet in the supermarket, at our job, on our commute.God’s will WILL be accomplished and His Kingdom will be made manifest! Through YOU!!! Through ME!!As we obey His timing, His leading, His direction, His instruction! How awesome is that??

It’s time to really live!Cast off your shackles – the shackles this world system has placed on you, the shackles the past has placed on you, the shackles your issues have placed on you, the shackles the enemy has placed on you and the shackles you have placed on yourself! For the time of God’s favor has come!To you right now, to your family, to your neighborhood, to your Island, to your city! They are desperate needing to see the Kingdom manifested in your life so that they too can experience it and be saved and set free. You are free to live the life that God has ordained for you to live by HIS POWER – not your own – by HIS POWER, not the power from this world – by HIS POWER.

So let’s make a quality decision once and for all, to live for the Lord and His Glory – not matter what the cost! The cost of not doing so is much too great to imagine! The whole creation is groaning as it awaits the manifestation of the sons of God – that means US! Let’s get into position! Let’s get into condition! Let’s get on with our commission!

May the Lord bless you continually,

Pastor Nancy
